It had been a somber Sunday in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
Denim-bedecked bikers, fatigue-wearing veterans and curious tourists
mingled under gray skies as speakers and singers marked the fifth
annual Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom, which brought 40,000
motorcyclists to Washington to rally for the POWs and MIAs they
believe are still alive in Southeast Asia.
By midafternoon, however, there was a subtle surge of younger
women crowding the small stage and the tour bus parked just a few
