U-Va. School Called `Hostile' to Women; Outside Committee Cites Harassment Against Business Faculty Members

A "hostile climate for women" flourishes among the faculty at the University of Virginia's prestigious Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, according to an outside committee report released yesterday.

The five-member group criticized the school's tenure process and its methods for handling sexual harassment complaints. Specifically, the committee took U-Va.'s top administrators to task for failing to improve the treatment of women after a 1990 tenure case that included allegations of sexual harassment.
