Public asked to turn in west coast dolphins

The public are being asked to help with a new survey that aims to record the distribution and numbers of bottlenose dolphins around the Scottish coast.

The three-year survey, funded by the Scottish Executive, is being carried out by the Mull-based Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust.

The group is working with the Scottish Association of Marine Science, near Oban, and Aberdeen University's sea mammal research unit on the project, which will make it easier for the public to report sightings of bottlenose dolphins.
