Norwegian barque sails in to raise statue cash

The world's largest three-masted passenger ship - or "barque" - sailed into Montrose at the weekend to raise funds for its Bamse project.

The Statsraad Lehmkuhl is an elegant tall ship from Norway, painted white and gold.

The 1,516 tonne barque is over 32ft long and has a sail area of almost 22,000ft.

It was berthed at the harbour overnight from Saturday and around 1,000 visitors went aboard to take a closer look yesterday afternoon.
