Middle east situation

Sir, - I write with reference to Nick Stott's letter (the Press and Journal, July 24) headed "Middle East struggle".

When one has an opinion, one gives more weight to facts that tend to support that opinion.

I plead guilty to being an Arabist. Even given my opinions, I feel it necessary to point out that Mr Stott's letter showed abysmal knowledge of his subject.

To base ones opinion on one source before launching into print was most unwise.
