My personal connection to Simon Wiesenthal goes back almost 30 years. At the time I was director of research at London's Wiener Library and had just published an article sharply criticizing the defamatory campaign of Austria's Socialist chancellor Bruno Kreisky (himself a Jew) against Wiesenthal. Kreisky had, at the time, attacked the famous Nazi-hunter both as a "Jewish fascist" and a Gestapo "collaborator" during the war years.
