Allen Jerkens was frequently hailed as a miracle worker for his
great training feats in the 1960s and 1970s, but he never had a day
quite like this one. He won four races at Aqueduct today, three of
them stakes, and gained a possible contender for the Kentucky Derby
when Devil His Due captured the $500,000 Wood Memorial Stakes.
Devil His Due won decisively, but like most of the winners of
Derby prep races, he didn't look like a realistic threat to the
