Aussie deal boosts Walter Scott assets to dollars-20bn

WALTER Scott & Partners, the Edinburgh-based fund management
boutique, has surprised industry rivals by boosting its assets under
management to dollars-20 billion (pounds-11.3bn).
The firm, which relocated to 1 Charlotte Square (the former office
of Ivory & Sime) in January 2004, expects to boost assets further
through a recent tie-up with the Sydney-based bank Macquarie.
In March, the financial institutions launched the Macquarie Walter
Scott Global Equity Fund, which the fund manager's founder and
chairman Walter Scott said, "could become quite significant".
