Victory and war past color festivities
PARIS, Aug 24, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Sixty years after Free French and Allied forces liberated this elegant capital, France is hosting a week-long fete honoring one of the most potent symbols of the end of Nazi occupation.
Celebrations marking the 1944 liberation of Paris this week follow massive D-Day ceremonies in Normandy on June 6, and along with those August 15, to mark the Allied landing in Provence.
