Grand opera was in full flower at the recent 2004 Variety Children's
Charities Fashion Gala sponsored annually by Kroger. To the delight of all,
Variety's Caravan to the Heart of the Nile, was as carefully crafted as any
Opera Memphis production.
From the moment one entered Agricenter International, mystic Egypt was
everywhere. Jan Tillman (gala chairperson), Babbie Lovett (fashion
director) and the Ladies of Variety Tent 20 pulled out ALL the stops to
make this a first-class, spine-tingling event.
