NEW YORK--Toni Marie Palmertree, a 21-year-old sophomore at the Peabody
Institute in Baltimore, won First Prize in the 2004 Sembrich Voice
Competition organized by the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York City.

A native of Reading, Pa., Palmertree studies with renowned soprano Phyllis
Bryn-Julson. She has already won several prizes and awards, including the
Isabel Sondheim Memorial Scholarship (Reading, Pa.) and has appeared with
Peabody Opera productions of Papageno and Gianni Schicchi. Ms. Palmertree
will receive a cash scholarship prize of $1000, and has been ...
