Turkey's Simsek, Celil win 69-kilogram titles at European championships

Erkem Celil won the men's 69-kilogram class at the European weightlifting championships Thursday, continuing Turkey's domination of the tournament.

Sibel Simsek of Turkey won the women's 69-kilogram class, setting two European junior records in the process. Russia's Svetlana Podobedova won the women's 75-kilogram class overall.

Celil, the 2001 European champion, was third after a 147.5 kilogram snatch, but regained the title with a 190-kilogram clean and jerk for a total of 337.5.
