Eleventh century German silver coins found on Baltic island of Gotland

A family removing a tree from their garden on the Swedish island of Gotland found a treasure under the stump: 280 silver coins from the early 11th century.
The coins, most of them from Germany, and some smaller twisted silver pieces were found a couple of weeks ago, archaeologist Leif Zerpe of the Gotland county museum said Monday.
The family didn't spot the treasure immediately after pulling the stump, he said.
