Analysis: Panama's favorite contender

PANAMA CITY, Jan 30, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Martin Torrijos Espino is the favorite candidate to win the May 2 presidential elections in Panama. He is the 40-year-old son of President General Omar Torrijos Herrera, who in 1968 established a military regime and in 1977 successfully negotiated the Panama Canal treaties. Torrijos Herrera died in a plane crash in 1981.
