Many contemporary indignities affecting African-Americans, like racial
profiling, challenged the life of Richard Allen, the legendary colonialera
Black leader in Philadelphia.

A self-taught ex-slave, Allen rose to place many indelible marks on the
history of America, including the founding in Philadelphia of the African
Methodist Episcopal Church, this nation's first Black religious
denomination.

In 1786, Allen faced losing his liberty through racial profiling when a
