Schools, museums, science institutes close doors as educators go on strike

More than 35,000 teachers and other educators went on strike Monday, demanding higher wages, as well as increased transport and meal subsidies and vacation bonuses.

Doors closed at schools, kindergartens, museums, science and art institutes after unions failed to persuade the government to increase pay for employees in these sectors. The strikers turned up at their work places but did not teach.
