Unknown work by Greek playwright Menander found in Vatican Library

A scholar studying an ancient manuscript in the Vatican Library has discovered 200 verses from what appear to be an unknown work by Menander, considered one of the most important of the Greek playwrights, the Vatican newspaper said Friday.

The 9th century manuscript from a Syrian monastery contains 200 verses from Menander's play "Dyskolos" ("The Grouch"), "but the most sensational part of the discovery regards the other 200 verses found," said L'Osservatore Romano.
