Fed: Aust-Indon ties at risk over Melville Island affair - Labor

CANBERRA, Nov 15 AAP - The federal government risked fracturing Australia's relationship
with Indonesia over the Melville Island asylum seekers affair, Labor said today.

Pressure is building for a Senate inquiry into how Australians were misled over asylum
claims by 14 Turks who landed on Melville Island on November 4.

The government has admitted the men sought asylum after they landed on the island north
of Darwin after previously claiming they had not.
