NSW: Abattoir workers should get entitlements 'next month'

SYDNEY, Oct 30 AAP - Nearly 250 workers at the troubled Mudgee Regional Abattoir should
get about $3.5 million in entitlements by the end of November, NSW Local Government Minister
Tony Kelly said today.

Under changes rushed through both houses of state parliament last night, the workers
- whose abattoir was owned by a joint local council - would have their entitlements guaranteed
by the federal government's General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS).
