MELBOURNE, Australia, Oct 26 (AFP) - Favourites England booked themselves a
World Cup quarter-final berth with a 35-22 win over Samoa but only after the
Pacific Islanders had come close to causing one of the all-time great upsets
here Sunday.

England, 10-0 down after five minutes at the Docklands Stadium, were
harried by a Samoa side that stayed true to its traditions of running rugby and
fearsome tackling.
