Kanchi Shankaracharya's attempt to solve the Ayodhya dispute fails as
Muslim body rejects his formula

"Ayodhya is ours! Now, get ready for the movement to liberate Kashi
[Varanasi] and Mathura," exulted Ram Madhav, spokesperson for the Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh.

He was celebrating a small victory in the RSS' long-drawn battle for the
construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya, at the site where the Babri Masjid
stood until a mob destroyed it on December 6, 1992.

Right-wing Hindu groups, led by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, an affiliate of
