Fed: Sheep could go to Cocos/Christmas Islands or Afghanistan

CANBERRA, Oct 7 AAP - A boatload of 52,000 sheep could be dumped on Cocos or Christmas
islands or even transported to Afghanistan as the government struggles to find a new home
for the animals.

The government confirmed today that the two island territories were being examined
as possible slaughter sites for the sheep, although a lack of docking facilities at both
may stymie the plan.

And Afghanistan is emerging as a possible buyer for the sheep, but diplomatic problems
