BIRMINGHAM: HAFIZ HASHIM crowned himself in glory when he became the first Malaysian for 37 years to win the most prestigious open title after capturing the All England Open Championships last night.
The 20-year-old from Kelantan is the same age as Tan Aik Huang was when the latter beat Japan's H. Akiyama in the 1966 final.
This is the Commonwealth Games champion's first ever victory on the professional circuit and he could not have done it at a bigger event.
