Energy-rich diet main cause of racehorse disease laminitis

IPOH, Tues. - Laminitis, a disease afflicting racehorses, can be partially attributed to their diet of energy-rich concentrates instead of grass, a renowned veterinarian from the University of Pretoria South Africa said today.

Professor Dr Sydbrand ven den Berg said while the diet was necessary for the animal's performance, excessive intake of such processed foods could lead to indigestion.
