Kota Baru to become Islamic city by 2005

IF Malacca is known as a historical city and Langkawi a tourism city, then Kota Baru, the State capital of Kelantan, is making a strong bid to become the country's first Islamic city by 2005.

The Islamic city idea was started by Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat at the oath-taking ceremony by Kota Baru municipal councillors in January 2000.
To show it is serious in the bid, a conference on "Kota Baru, an Islamic City by 2005" was held on July 29 to get expert ...
