THE issue of boric acid in food was first brought up by the Consumers Association of Penang 16 years ago.

But till today, we find boric acid present in food products. This indicates a serious state of neglect over food safety.
In our latest test, 40 food samples from Penang and Butterworth were tested, out of which 27 were found to contain boric acid up to a level of 2,060 parts per million (ppm).
