Murfreesboro names school for Robert and Mary Scales

Murfreesboro's School Board has decided to name its next school in
recognition of Robert and Mary Scales, long-time leaders in that Middle
Tennessee community.

Scales Elementary School, anticipated for construction on DeJarnette Lane
at some time in the future, will be the first school named after an African
American in Rutherford County.

The name is in memory of the late Robert "Tee-niny" Scales and in honor of
his wife, Mary Caruthers Scales.
