State Legislators Approve Bill Which Aims to Promote Ethnic Studies

A bill that aims to promote ethnic studies as a standard part of California
public high school curricula as a means to teach respect for diversity,
tolerance, and understanding of the various racial and ethnic groups of
California was passed the state legislature on August 15th and will now
head to Governor Davis for final approval.
AB 2001 (Diaz) initiated this effort by having the Curriculum and
Supplemental materials commission of the State Department of Education
prepare a report on ethnic studies that will provide the essential
information to make this goal a ...
