Diabetes silently stalks African-Americans

Three years ago Phyllis Bell was diagnosed with diabetes. She knew she was
at risk of contracting the disease well before she was diagnosed. Because
of her family history, she made it a point to go to the doctor annually for
check-ups.

Bell's regular trips to the doctor paid off. She was able to take control
of the disease.

"Diabetes is not something I wanted to play around with, and I don't want
to die from any complications," stated Bell.
