New York Remembers Giuseppe Verdi

Two Thousand One marks the 100th Anniversary since the death of probably
the greatest composer Italy ever produced Giuseppe Verdi's' opera "Nabucco"
made its debut at the La Scala of Milan, Italy, on March 9, 1842, 159 years
ago. ("Va pensiero" is an aria from the opera).

Verdi's works truly illuminate the beauty and richness of Italian culture
and music. His composition style has been revered and emulated since the
moment of his passing.

He was born (1813-1901) in Roncole, in the former duchy of Parma, in an age
when Italy had not yet ...
