Despite having the highest number of syphilis cases in the U.S. in 1999
with over 400 cases, Marion County reported only 37 cases of primary and
secondary syphilis in the year 2002. Although rankings will not be
finalized until fall of 2003, this number would put the county far down on
the national list. Much of the credit goes to the partnerships between
