For the future of Afghanistan, rewind U.S.-Iran tape

When Secretary of State Colin Powell took off for Pakistan recently to meet
with President Pervez Musharraf, I sensed the repeat of a scenario that had
been played out before in the relationship between the U.S. and Iran and it
reminded me of just how long the U.S. had used its influence in a manner
