Andhra Pradesh may make pre-marriage HIV test mandatory

The Andhra Pradesh government has proposed a legislation making HIV tests
mandatory for all prospective brides and bridegrooms.
The move follows suggestions from women's activists and non-governmental
organizations in the wake of an alarming spread of AIDS in the state, with
transmission via the sexual route accounting for 90 percent of the
infections.
