He played, in turn, God and mortal, hero and villain, legend and letch,
saint and sinner.

Villupuram Chinnaiahpillai 'Sivaji' Ganesan's career spanned 48 years, and
306 films. In the aftermath of his death last week, the pantheon of Tamil
films struggles with similes and metaphors to sum up his essence.
