Narayanan eager to contest a second term

The 11th Presidential election in India this July may see the emergence of
a dark horse in the form of the incumbent, Kocheril Raman Narayanan.

Despite his poor health and occasional spat with the ruling Bharatiya
Janata Party, official sources at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the presidential
palace, said Narayanan is eager to contest a second term.

Narayanan is learnt to have sent emissaries to the BJP, the Congress and
other national political parties to lobby for a second chance, with the
request that he has been impartial, fair and constitutionally correct since
