Flagellation, an accepted Filipino ritual of penance for grievous sins,
could also be a health risk for those who practice it the Department of
Health (DOH) has warned.
A flagellant's wounds, if not cleaned properly, could be infected with
tetanus, according to DOH Secretary Manuel Dayrit.
