Jewish studies on radar of modern universities

Peter Haas was looking forward to using his new snow blower. The new Abba
Hillel Silver professor of Jewish studies at Case Western Reserve
University and director of the Samuel Rosenthal Center for Judaic Studies
received the snow blower as a gift from his former colleagues at Vanderbilt
University in Nashville. Tenn., when he left for Cleveland.

With snow falling outside, the reception inside was anything but chilly as
