History of a `macabre' Chanukah tale: Martyrdom of Maccabees ensured their
story would be preserved by the Catholic Church.
After being bombarded year after year with growing awareness of the
festival of Chanukah, the curious Jewish layman some cold winter evening
may reach up to a neglected area of his bookshelf and bring down his copy
of the Tanach, the Holy Scriptures, he got for his bar mitzvah.
