KUALA TERENGGANU, Wed. - Customs enforcement boats will soon be
equipped with general purpose machine guns and M-16 assault rifles.
Director-general Datuk Paduka Abdul Halil Abdul Mutalib said this
would enable Customs enforcement officers to deal with heavily armed smugglers.

"We need greater firepower to match the arms sophistication of
smugglers. But the weapons will be for protection and not to launch...
