Fed: Hollingworth not the only GG to run into trouble

MELBOURNE, May 11 AAP - Peter Hollingworth is embroiled in one of the biggest controversies to have befallen an Australian Governor-General, but the vice-regal office holder has never been immune from trouble.

For sheer impact, none has rivalled Sir John Kerr and his 1975 dismissal of the Whitlam Labor government.

Sir John was notorious, also, for a suspiciously incoherent speech he gave at a Melbourne Cup presentation in the 1970s.
