The southern province of Binh Duong is showing no signs of the recent economic
slowdown, announcing a 25 per cent rise in foreign direct investment since
the beginning of the year. Figures from the provincial Department of Planning
and Investment (DPI) showed that by mid-April 35 new foreign direct invested
(FDI) projects were licensed with a total capital of $62.7 million.
Including funds pumped into 29 existing foreign-backed projects, new
investment stood at $125 million, already 42 per cent of the province's
