Fed: Qld high-handed and reckless on sugar; Anderson
Acting Prime Minister JOHN ANDERSON says Queensland has been reckless
and high-handed
in its approach to sugar industry reforms.
Queensland introduced the changes to state parliament this week,
saying they would
stop the $1 billion-a-year industry from collapsing within four years.
The review of the Sugar Act was a condition of a $120 million federal
assistance package,
but both levels of government need to agree on the changes.
