Dateline: ALLENDALE, N.J. The long wait is over for fans of the Today Sponge contraceptive: It's back on sale again, eight years after its sudden demise was immortalized in a hilarious "Seinfeld" episode that coined the term "spongeworthy."

The return of the sponge _ it is now available over the Internet and could be on U.S. shelves in a year or so _ is expected to lead to bulk buying, and perhaps more spontaneous romance, among its fiercely loyal users.
