PARIS, Feb. 11 (IPS) -- The French decision Monday to veto NATO
military supplies to Turkey, recalls the deep suspicion of
'Anglo-Saxon' hegemony entertained by modern-day France's founding
father, Charles de Gaulle.
The United States government had asked NATO members to endorse
military aid to Turkey "to protect" it during any war against Iraq.
France and Belgium blocked the decision, arguing that the U.S. was
trying to impose "a logic of war" upon NATO, ignoring that a
