Hiram Stewart loved dogs so much as a boy that he once took a bus
from his home outside New Orleans and came back from Virginia carrying
a puppy in a paper bag.
The story goes that he was so excited to break into the show world
that, as a 12-year-old, he put a rope around a dog's neck to enter
his first event. Stewart playfully denies it, of course.
