USDA PROVIDES $14 MILLION IN LOW-INTEREST LOANS FOR BOLL WEEVIL ERADICATION

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7, 2003 - Agriculture Secretary Ann M. Veneman today
announced that USDA is providing $14 million in low-interest loans to help
eliminate the boll weevil in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
"These loans are important in helping eradicate the boll weevil and
preventing future crop damage," said Veneman. "This has been a successful
program which is providing important benefits to cotton farmers....
