Monday, January 20, 2003 -- The level of Lake Kinneret has risen by 53 centimeters since the beginning of the rainy season, but is still nearly five meters from its maximum mark, the Water Commissioners' Office (WCO) reported on Sunday.

The WCO said the lake's water level had risen by a further four centimeters over the weekend as a result of scattered showers in the North and the strong flow into the lake from the Jordan River and Golan streams.
