Greek art after Byzantium's fall displayed
NEW YORK, Dec 17, 2002 (United Press International via COMTEX) --
Surveys of Renaissance art have always focused on Western Europe,
overlooking the art that flourished in the former Byzantine Empire
after the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks in 1453.
An exhibit at the Onassis Cultural Center is the first in the United
States to attempt to flesh out this forgotten chapter in art history
when artists working in Crete, the Ionian Islands, Venice, and Ottoman-
