Chievo downs Piacenza, ties Juventus in fourth place

Chievo, the surprising provincial team from Verona, climbed into a
fourth-place tie with powerhouse Juventus in the Serie A standings
after beating lowly Piacenza 3-0 Saturday.
Midfielder Ivano Della Morte, German striker Oliver Bierhoff and substitute
Sergio Pellissier scored the second-half goals that earned Chievo
(8-2-4) its eighth win of the season and lifted it to 26 points.
Chievo, which finished fifth in its rookie year in the Serie A last
season, tied defending league champion Juventus ahead of Sunday's
matches.
