SA: Water breaks through River Murray mouth
In the midst of the drought, water has trickled through the River
Murray mouth for
the first time in months.
A $2 million emergency dredging operation broke through today to
restore the link between
the Goolwa side of the Coorong and the sea.
The operation, funded by the Murray Darling Basin Commission started
several weeks ago.
More than 60,000 cubic metres of sand has been removed from the
river mouth, where
water hasn't flowed for several months.
